2. Recent events

Tramp to the Pinnacles

During the holidays a group of Rotaractors tramped to the Pinnacles which is just south of Thames. It took 4 hours to tramp to the hut and then at sunrise the next morning they tramped from the hut to the summit. This took another 45 minutes.

We are keen to do it again with perhaps the added challenge of finishing the walk in one day. If this interests you and you would like to participate or help organise it then flick us an email. The Tongariro crossing is also something we can do.

Auckland Seafood Festival

We have received money from the Rotary Club of Auckland East for volunteering at the Auckland Seafood festival earlier in the year. Thank you to all those who took part.

3. Projects

Drug and alcohol

Midwinter rave with AUSA. We will be the eyes for St John’s. Email us if you’re interested.

RYLA

Interviews are taking place at the moment. We are also looking for 4-6 volunteers to help direct RYLArians during the Community project day. It would be best if you have done RYLA so that no surprises are ruined if you want to participate in the near future. The exact fate is still to be announced but it will be during the Intersemester break this July.

Motutapu tree planting

We need 12 people. The possible dates are May 28th, July 16th, July 30th, August 7th, August 21st, September 17th. We go over on the Saturday and do some exploring with the Sunday reserved for tree planting. It’s a nice, easy and fun way to get out of the city without too much hassle. Cost of the weekend will be subsidised by the club. Email us if you’re interested and your preferred weekend.
